The typical problem of physical obstructions dampening the device’s speaker, either by hand or objects the device comes in contact with, becomes a non-factor – the output frequency content attenuations and magnifications are automatically negated by the prime function of our algorithm, transforming the sound to the device’s optimum capability.

CONEQ™ technology captures the acoustic power frequency response of the target system to create as objective digital representation of the system’s acoustic capability as possible. The recording device, typically a microphone with a sound card or a smartphone in the near future, is gradually moved in the acoustic plane in front of the audio playback device playing a sine sweep covering the audible frequency range, capturing the APFR in multitude of physical points located in said acoustic plane. This is the base minimum participation required on the user’s side, automation carrying out the rest of the calibration process. The attained audio system’s APFR parameters are forwarded to the CONEQ™ technology libraries for processing and appropriate calibration parameter derivation.
Employing the principles of convolution and sample forward prediction, a calibration filter is calculated with varying resolution (128-16384 taps) and sampling frequency (8kHz – 96 kHz), all adjustable by the client or the target device’s technical specification. The result of the calibration is the creation of a flat frequency response in the device’s audio output that is still flexible to dynamic fine-tuning by the user, if some frequency content is required to be enhanced based on individual preference.
CONEQLabs software pack offers full interaction capability with the calibration process and the automatically generated filter via additional tools, such as graphic or parametric equalizers, limiter, AGC or virtual bass algorithms just to name a few. The effect of filter curve manipulation can be monitored in real time via the built-in media player supporting algorithm presets for 2-channel systems, headphone solutions and a GUI for environment allowing the user to create their own custom algorithm chains and signal propagation paths within the post-processing audio algorithms.
